The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho has been voted into Whitcoulls’ Top 100 Books of 2026.
The annual list, chosen by readers across New Zealand, offers a snapshot of the country’s reading tastes. Whitcoulls, New Zealand’s largest bookstore chain, received a record number of votes this year, with fiction accounting for 78 of the 100 selected titles.
