Thousands of readers came along to Paulo Coelho’s signings in Dubai, Bucharest, Zagreb and Ljubljana

Paulo Coelho caused a real sensation during his visits to the United Arab Emirates, Rumania, Croatia and Slovenia. Thousands of readers came along to the author’s book signings during his tours. Coelho signed copies of his last novel The Zahir and other works of his for nearly five hours straight in Dubai, where two different signings were organized, and for nearly four hours in Rumania. In Zagreb he signed at the Interliber bookfair, where he was a guest star. The signings followed equally successful press conferences.

Official opening of the Austrian portion of the Road to Santiago

Paulo Coelho participated on the opening in Melk Abbey of the Austrian portion of the Road to Santiago, which leads from Göttweig Abbey to Melk Abbey. Special stations along the Austrian stretch inform of the entire Road to Santiago, and extracts of Paulo Coelho's book "The Road to Santiago" is printed in plaques troughout the road.

Paulo Coelho has been appointed H.C. Andersen Ambassador by the Danish Prince Henrik in a ceremony held in Paris. Coelho thereby joins a diplomatic corps that already includes figures such as Susan Sarandon, Suzanne Vega, Mariza, Carmen Posadas, Liv Ullman, Antonia Byatt, Pelé,Gilbrto Gil and Roger Moore.
