This year it appears in #5 of the list, after being the #1 bestseller worldwide in 2003.

Paulo Coelho receives the Nielsen Gold Book Award for The Alchemist

Paulo Coelho has been given the Nielsen Gold Book Award given in recognition of the outstanding sales of The Alchemist in the UK retail market given by Nielsen Book Scan, which is the international sales data monitoring and analysis service for the English-language book industry worldwide.
The price was for the 500,000 copies of The Alchemist sold in UK, however, the actual figure is 1,200,000 copies. The difference lies in the fact that Book Scan started controlling the sales in the period 2000-2001.
