US Secretary of State John Kerry quotes Paulo Coelho

John Kerry took Paulo Coelho's words to try to establish a new relationship between United States and Brazil after NSA spying controversy. During his first official visit to South America as secretary of state, Kerry addressed an open letter to Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff and Brazilian Foreign Minister Antonio Patriota where he mentioned one of Paulo Coelho's quotes from The Devil and Miss Prym.

As journalist from Folha de S. Paulo Vera Magalhães pointed out in her weekly column (see picture below), Secretary of State quoted "the great Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho" to talk about the challenges the US and Brazil face nowadays. Kerry said "Coelho reminds us when we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; the challenge will not wait, life does not look back. What we all need is a moment, as he tells us, to decide whether or not to accept our destiny."
