The author shines in his own right for having sold 150 million copies worldwide

The 65th Frankfurt Book Fair opened today with a very special Guest of Honour: Brazil, a country, the greatest exponent of which is the writer Paulo Coelho. Translated into more than 80 languages, the author has sold more than 150 million copies in more than 200 countries. He has published 26 books, has been a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters since 2002 and is also the writer with the largest online community, with more than 23 million followers on social media.

But this year is also special because it marks the 25th anniversary of The Alchemist’s publication in Brazil, a novel that is already a classic of contemporary literature and that has marked a turning point in the lives of many of us. This timeless work, which is among the top positions of the best-seller ranks worldwide, has been on The New York Times best-seller list for over 271 weeks and continues to delight readers and new generations.
